Jacqui Parrott

I’m Jacqueline (Jacqui for short) Parrott, co-owner of Kiwi Accounting Solutions (Kiwi As) with Alastair, office administrator and general dogsbody. I’ve been involved in the business since the outset.

I started work as a legal secretary in Te Awamutu before moving to Melbourne, after which I came back to the Waikato and worked both in Hamilton and Te Awamutu. I then became involved in the world of panel and paint alongside bringing up my two children.

I oversaw the day-to-day running of the business, including Xero. Alastair needed someone to do the same at Kiwi As and it was a good opportunity for us to work together and for me to learn more about what he does.

Having booked work in and ordered parts, etc. I am now learning the other side of business – why I did what I did. I love it.

I grew up on a farm with three brothers out at Wharepuhunga so have lived and worked in the Waipa area most of my life. It’s home. Alastair and I enjoy being able to spend time with our blended family of seven adult children and watching them create their own paths in the world. We also live on 16 acres and run my brother’s 16 acres beside us with his assistance. This gives us lots of hands-on experience with calving and the day-to-day operations of a farm, albeit on a smaller scale than most of our clients!

Alastair and I love to travel and have visited and experienced some amazing places over the years. I think the highlight was taking a year out of normal life to buy a motorhome in England and travel around Europe for eight months doing and seeing what we wanted. It was amazing to have the time to reevaluate life. I think time is our biggest asset. We need to make the most of it and to reflect on the things we used to think were important and what is now important to us.
